Autonnel v0.1.0

Tutorial: edit a page with an AI agent

Create an API key, paste it with the skill link into any desktop agent, and let it edit a page for you.

Changing the copy on a page is the most common job to hand an AI agent. It takes two steps: create an API key, then paste the key and the skill link into your agent together with what you want changed. This works with any agent that can make HTTP requests, such as Claude, ChatGPT / Codex, Cursor or Windsurf.

Step 1: create an API key

  1. In the admin, go to Settings → API Keys.
  2. Click + New key, enter a name (for example page-editing-agent), and click Create.
  3. Click Copy. The full key is shown only once.
  4. In the key list, turn on the Write switch for that key. New keys are read-only, and a read-only key cannot change pages.

Step 2: paste it into your agent

Start a new conversation and paste a message like this, with your own deploy URL, key and task:

Autonnel deploy: https://your-shop.com
API key: YOUR_KEY
Skill: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/autonnel/autonnel-skills/main/self-hosted-funnel-launch/SKILL.md
Read the skill first, then call the MCP endpoint at /api/mcp over HTTP as it describes.

Task: on the page with slug "summer-sale", change the main headline to "Summer Sale: 30% off every bundle" and the button under it to "Shop the sale". Change nothing else. Save it as a draft, show me the before/after, and wait for my OK before publishing.

The skill tells the agent how to call autonnel and how to edit a page safely, so you do not need to explain the API.

If your agent supports installed skills, install it once and drop the Skill: line from the message:

npx skills add autonnel/autonnel-skills --skill self-hosted-funnel-launch

When the agent shows the before/after, check that only the texts you asked for changed, and preview the draft under Pages in the admin. Reply with your OK and the agent publishes it.

Keep the key safe

The key is now part of the chat history and whatever the agent’s provider retains. Create a key for each conversation and Delete it in Settings → API Keys when you are done. To connect an agent permanently instead of pasting the key each time, see MCP server.

  • MCP server: permanent client setup and the full tool list.
  • Publishing: draft and published content in the admin.
